Exporting a map as PNG

Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a popular raster image format that can be used in email or websites. PNG can be edited in image-editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop.

To export the current map view as a PNG file:

  1. Resize the map to the desired dimensions using the handle in the bottom-right corner of the document window
  2. Choose File > Export Image > Export PNG...
  3. Type a filename and select a destination folder
  4. Check the box labeled "Include map legend" if you wish to include a color legend
  5. Click Export
